I got this tidbit of information from Carol Blair. Here, Carol shares information about wood stains, finishes, and care instruction. Your dulcimer (#635) is all cherry. Lots of people think cherry is darker, but Mark did not stain his woods. He only used a satin varnish - which preserved the natural color of the wood. Sometimes cherry will darken with age especially if it is exposed to sunshine on a regular basis. The
best place to hang a dulcimer is on an interior wall usually because the
change in exterior wall temperatures and humidity can put a dulcimer out of
tune quicker. |
