I know there are more out there ...
are many more Mark Blair Dulcimers out there; I have heard bits and pieces from folks all
around that I refer to as "breadcrumbs"
Breadcrumb # 1 -
another of Mark Blair's cousins has indicated that she is in
possession of the very first dulcimer he built. She writes ... "I
have the first Dulcimer he ever made -- it was from a kit, though."
Breadcrumbs # 3, 4, and 5 -
Blair's nephew and nieces. The
nephew writes ... "Carol is my aunt
and Mark was my uncle. Carol is my father's sister. Mark and
Carol gave my wife and I a dulcimer which is hanging in our NC home.
We have enjoyed playing the instrument and always receive compliments of
its beauty on our wall. I believe both of my sisters have one as
Breadcrumb # 7
- Mark Blair Dulcimer #135 was custom built for Dawn ...
"Inside it said...... Mark Blair
Alexandria, Va. #135 custom built ...Dawn."
- Mark Blair Backpack Dulcimer?
I've GOT to learn more about this - Webmaster Mark's mother recently wrote to an acquaintance
was just in Alexandria and a guest at Mark Blair's widow's home ... She has six hanging in her
living room, and one called a backpack dulcimer in the dining room. Evidently my
cousin Mark built about 6 smaller, shorted dulcimers with just one sound hole above and
the cluster below. It looks so diminutive that it caught my eye. They must be very valuable.
